The Challenge

In the past organizations used support services only when a system stopped working. Organizations also contracted vendors in the same fashion. Later on organizations started with service levels agreements to make sure that the vendors react even quicker to problems to systems. Fourier realized years back that 99% of problems can be fixed in a preventative way.

The Solution

The key components of preventative support are:

  • To develop and document the critical components, hardware, software and databases of applications, and the dependencies between hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Dashboard monitoring of each application’s critical components, for example: CPU usage, space utilization, event logs of servers (database, operating system, applications, etc.).
  • Create dashboard clusters that are easy to understand and interpret, using groupings, colors and messages.
  • Early warning communication – apart from dashboards that can be displayed on walls and visible places, further warning features on sms and email.
  • Recall Manuals – By preparing recall manuals for each event, the monitoring person can re-act clinically on critical warnings. These Recall manuals have the correct call-logging procedures so that service calls are logged timely and correctly before even the users are affected.
